See Zhang Hanyu's road to collection

Pain and happiness

——Interview with Zhang Hanyu

A "Assembly Number" has achieved Gu Zidi and Zhang Hanyu, thus starting his career as a "five-star film emperor". Then, from Song Jiang in the new edition of "Water Margin" to Captain Wu in "Sound of Wind" to Zhang Liang in "Hong Men Banquet", Zhang Hanyu, who was late in the game, portrayed one after another on the screen. However, Zhang Hanyu in life has a close relationship with antiques and has a special liking for collecting art. So, the "Shaanxi baby" of ancestral homeland in Lantian, in the calm atmosphere of Huanghuali and Red Sandalwood, in the elegance and elegance of the study and the unity of heaven and man in the stone, traced the roots, all the way ...

Question: You have created many classic images of "tough guys" and "heroes" on the screen, but you have a delicate "antique longevity" outside the screen, which surprised and surprised many viewers. Why are you interested in collecting?

A: My collection may have something to do with the living environment when I was young. At that time, I lived in Beijing's Siheyuan. My family also likes to go to Beihai and the Forbidden City, and like traditional culture. Therefore, when I was a child, there were old objects including furniture, calligraphy, painting and porcelain. This gave me a very vague but profound impact. When I started to learn to paint, in my 20s, I started to like collecting. Although I still don't understand and have no money, I always go to Panjiayuan. At that time, Panjiayuan was still a wilderness, with big earth slopes and big earthen pits. In the morning and in the ghost market, I would go around. Mainly to buy some porcelain and handicrafts, it is not expensive, but it is basically fake, go home and wrap it up like a baby and put it under the bed, it is a preliminary stage.

Opposite really like furniture is left and right from the beginning of 1990, I just shoot the movie "big names" in Beijing, there is a scene of the shooting scene is a big yard run antique furniture, Liang Guangping, and a well-known collectors Lo Hong Ka Beijing. As soon as I entered, I saw a pair of four-headed, lacquered official hats and chairs behind a large painting of Huang Huali. I particularly like this chair , so I talked to the boss. It was quite expensive, and it cost me 18 thousand to buy it. At the time I bought a new house, the furniture just happened to be furnished. I remember that I placed the pair of chairs under the white wall at home. Soon after, Ma Weidu came to my house, went straight to the house, looked at it for a long time, and said, "I am so happy that the Chinese now know to use furniture as furnishings." Since then, I have started to like furniture. It can be furnished, not afraid of falling or touching, broken, repairable, close to life, and can be slowly appreciated and appreciated in use.

Question: You are more fond of Ming and Qing furniture in antiques. Compared to the fragility of porcelain and the fragility of painting and calligraphy, Ming and Qing furniture has an atmosphere and calmness in terms of individual volume, life length and practicality. The "tough guy" image has some connection. So, is it not surprising? Is this the choice and extension of the "tough guy spirit"?

A: I do n’t think so. Collecting furniture is not related to my so-called “tough guy image” on the screen. The reason why I like Ming and Qing furniture is related to several standards of furniture collection. First, it must be the original leather shell. I do n’t want to take showers, help, or repair. Because until now, my collection is not just furniture, but works of art. I do n’t want things that are n’t works of art. Second, I do n’t want anything for household use made by simple woodworkers. What I want must be What simple woodworkers can't do, it must contain a lot of culture in terms of design and use. The furniture of Huanghuali and Red Sandalwood , both wood and design, are more in line with my two standards.

Huanghuali furniture , which must be co-designed by big literati and carpenters, is a wonderful work of art. Red sandalwood, not to mention, the work archives of the construction office in the palace record the process of making red sandalwood furniture . For example, the emperor Qianlong wanted to create a piece of furniture. The emperor and the designer would first draw a small sample, and after repeated discussion and modification, let the craftsman use cheap wood such as cypress to make one-to-one samples, and then change it until Qianlong was satisfied , The next purpose is to prepare red sandalwood as it is. The craftsman can take the imperial edict to get the rosewood wood, which must be elaborately made and cannot be wasted at all. After completion, a detailed report will be written, showing how much labor was spent, how much red sandalwood was used, and even how much glue was used, and presented it to the emperor.

The emperor said, I see, I am grateful for this. Then put the furniture in Chuxiu Palace, Yangxin Hall, or somewhere else, and this piece of art is finished. Therefore, it carries too much culture in it. Another example square table, is one of the most common household items, someone needs to use, but the case painting, a few incense but it is rarely seen; canopy bed very much, in almost all auctions have one or two, but, Ocean bed very few. It is used by a specific person and has a deep cultural background. It is not simply the word "furniture". Therefore, I like the simplicity of Huanghuali furniture, which has the elegance and elegance of literati; I like the thickness and style of red sandalwood furniture , which has a very wonderful concept.

Q: Is this always the case? Focus on collecting Ming and Qing furniture?

A: Now I have moved from the furniture to the study room. I especially like stones, such as Lingbi, Taihu, Yingshi, etc. Speaking of stones is very interesting, Mi Fu Bai Shi, Su Dongpo Yong Shi, Song Huizong tried their best to search for strange stones, why? Because stones are taken from nature, it is imaginative, in fact, it is a kind of concentration of mountains and rivers, and it is an emotional sustenance. Ancient Chinese literati condensed their love for the motherland's mountains and waters on small stones and placed them on their desks to watch and play every day. It can be said that the stone can properly reflect the Chinese literati's idea of the unity of nature and man. From the Song Dynasty to the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, this kind of culture passed down surprised the West. They do n’t understand. Can the Chinese play stone as a piece of art? ! Westerners quickly studied this phenomenon and summed up ten words: "The core of energy, the skeleton of the earth."

On the evening of the 30th of the year, drinking and chatting at Feng Dao's house, I chatted with Wang Shuo, Ma Weidu, and Chen Danqing about the new hill I received. Yingshi Shanzi in the Ming Dynasty brought money underneath. I said, Westerners say that our Chinese literati appreciating stones is "the core of energy, the bones of the earth", which is quite wonderful. Wang Shuo said at the time, "No." "Energy" has no core, and "Earth's skeleton" is quite accurate. I said, this "energy" may contain a sentiment of the literati, and more of spiritual energy. Wang Shuo said, it should be called "the core of feelings, the skeleton of the earth." I particularly agree with Wang Shuo's statement.

Q: Celebrities love antiques, which seems to be a fashionable label nowadays. For you, is antique collection a "swap" outside of acting life, or is it an indispensable "complex"?

Answer: It is a very important part of my life. The real collection is a kind of true love that will not be shaken easily. I bought it today and sold it tomorrow. That's called business. I bought it today and I want to buy it tomorrow. As for the future of collectibles? What if the child doesn't like it? How do I donate? I don't think about these issues. The thought of happiness suddenly disappeared. For now, I only enjoy its companionship. To put it bluntly, it is to keep our eyes and heart, enrich our knowledge and improve our aesthetics. The more you play with old things, the more you feel that there are a lot of ugly and dissonant things in today's society, including architecture, urban planning, and people's mentality. These need an improvement, it needs the improvement of the aesthetics of the whole people and various management levels.

Q: Unlike other celebrities who "enact and collect," you seem to be fascinated by antiques before becoming famous. Specifically, when? How did collecting antiques affect you at that time?

Answer: 1990. Fortunately for me, as soon as I entered the door, I met big experts, such as Liang Guangping. You can't buy his things fake, others don't sell fakes, they sell art. So as soon as I got up, the positioning was relatively high. I did n’t buy it myself. I did n’t hear that Zhang Sanli Si had to buy it. I would definitely be deceived to take a detour. When I entered the exhibition hall of Liang Guangping at that time, I first judged that this was a real thing and a good thing. Because no matter what kind of real old things, it has a kind of aura, this aura is different from new things. Its shimmering luster, exuding the smell, giving you the feeling, the message and the breath are different. Therefore, we still have to read more. Remind friends who are new to the collection to read more.

When it comes to influence, it is pain and happiness. Sometimes I have to borrow money without money, sometimes I have to give up something painfully, sometimes I buy a thing, it is expensive, and I get tangled back, is it refunded, sometimes I think, do I need to buy it again? Sometimes when I encounter a good thing, I ca n’t sleep for a few days, I always think about it ... More, really, it hurts, and I am happy.

Q: Tell me about your experience of picking up leaks and eye-catching?

A: The biggest leak I picked up was probably six or seven years ago, when I had a basic experience in identifying the authenticity of ancient furniture . One day when I visited Panjiayuan, it cost me two or three thousand to buy a Huanghuali screen. The person who sells this thing urgently needs money and thinks it is Caohuali. I bought it without paying the price. A perfect screen insertion, the good Hainan Huanghuali, which should have been in Kangxi's time, is still cherished at home.

I have also done eye-catching. In Hubei, I bought a bunch of lacquerware. Someone recommended it to me, saying that it was Zhanhan lacquer ware and dehydrated lacquer ware. At that time, I didn't have this knowledge and bought a lot. Later, I looked for experts and went to the Hubei Museum to find out that it was a high imitation. It is a high imitation of the retired workers of the local museum, and the wooden tires used are all unearthed coffins of Chu. They mastered the skills of repairing lacquer ware, and then everything they did seemed to be dehydrated.

When I buy these things, I become illiterate. You can read the book first. It takes several years for a country to dehydrate a utensil. The cost is about 50,000 yuan. It is made layer by layer with a dehydrator. Then, he only sells you 10,000 or 20,000. How is it possible? Therefore, I should read the book first and master some basic theories first. Playing antiques, distinguishing the authenticity is the first level, it must be mastered. You ca n’t just listen to what others say. You must have theoretical knowledge, study, and read a book, and then you will know what you want, and you wo n’t buy ugly things.

Q: How did you learn collection knowledge? How many stages can your collecting career be?

Answer: Learning is a process of accumulation. From hobby to practice, reading books repeatedly, pondering repeatedly, and communicating with friends.

As for collection, there are roughly three stages. In the first stage, furniture is the main theme. If you like to display some old furniture, it must be true. But at that time, there was no money, and hardwood could not be bought. Huanghuali red sandalwood didn't even dare to think about it, and might buy one or two small pieces, mainly to buy some wood and wood furniture.

The second stage is a little money, I like hardwood furniture, and must be Huanghuali and red sandalwood.

In the third stage, we arrived at the study stone, courtyard stone and literati stone in addition to furniture.

Q: What are the treasures in the study and the stone?

Answer: There are a few. One was made by Porcelain Shanzi photographed in Jiade last year, and the porcelain carved mountain, made by Tang Yingdu, a royal kiln in Jingdezhen. This was a special session of Huang Xuanlong in Taiwan made by Guardian last year. I was particularly fortunate to have taken it. I thought it would be a very high price. I used to say hello to all my friends who liked it. I want to, let one, let one, because I especially like it.

One was taken by Poly, a rosewood incense box, which resembled the lacquerware of the Yuan Dynasty. Why is it good? Because it is Wen Zhengming, a famous painter, writer and calligrapher in the Ming Dynasty. The Stop Cloud Hall is Wen Zhengming's Zhai name. You can have Wen Zhengming's characters and Wen Zhengming's paintings. How can you have Wen Zhengming's objects? This is the incense box that Wen Zhengming played with. This thing was later passed to the palace, and the Emperor Qianlong played it for a long time. So I insisted on taking pictures. In my heart, this incense box has nothing to do with money, but with the person of Wen Huiming, with his works, his thoughts, his experience, and his era.

Q: In terms of furniture collection, what is your favorite collection?

A: In 1991, I tried my best to buy a high-quality Arhat bed, which I bought at Liang Guangping, and I still have it at home. Mr. Liu Chuansheng's "Big Lacquer Furniture" and "Chisel Workmanship" both have my bed in the "Chinese Bedding Exhibition" held at the Century Altar last year.

That bed should be the oldest bed we have seen so far. The three-sided high hoarding boards are all covered with twisted porcelain plates. The twisted porcelain originated in the Tang Dynasty and was extinct in the Song Dynasty. Previously we unearthed or discovered small items, and this is only one example of large-scale application to furniture. This bed comes from Jinnan. Ma Weidu judged it as the late Song Dynasty. I judge it as the 15th century. Twisted tire porcelain itself is a thing used by literati. My bed is also available. This is the highest ancient bed known at present. Only Tang and Song furniture is of this style. Ma Weidu always wanted to put this bed in his museum.

I have some chances and stories with this bed. Originally this bed should go to the US, almost. The American married a Chinese wife. The American had a dream. When he dreamed that he would sleep on a stone bed, his wife took him to Liang Guangping. , Deliver him within three months. As a result, the September 11 incident occurred during this period, and this person died in the World Trade Center. If this bed is destroyed early, it will be destroyed, and the national treasure will be gone. Yin and Yang are wrong, it stays in China.

It can be resold according to the contract, and my friend moved the bed from the warehouse. I entered as soon as he was there. I said, yo, did this bed go? He said, hey, do n’t mention it, that buddy died in the building on September 11, and I said, give me, I want! At that time, I couldn't pay so much money. I first paid a deposit of 5,000 US dollars, and then tried my utmost to earn money. It took a long time to finish. What a fate.

Playing antiques, one is experience and the other is aesthetics. Why do I say you want to improve your aesthetics and your taste? Right here, sometimes you can see things that others cannot see.

Question: When you decide to collect a collection, what are the characteristics of this collection that most impress you?

A: First of all, it ’s enough time; second, it ’s to judge who uses this thing. At first glance, the things used by literati exude literati's breath, which requires your aesthetic. Then, I have another standard is the original skin shell original package. On this object, it bears the details of life in the past few hundred years. Now, many of the reflowed items were sold to foreigners at that time. They polished and re-waxed the wax. They looked very beautiful, but the original beautiful package was gone and destroyed. I usually don't buy it. Because I bought an ancient piece of art, not a simple piece of furniture. Of course, there is a prerequisite, I can afford this price.

Question: Regarding the value of antiques, you used the example of losing the cultural relic "Beast Head" at Yuanmingyuan as an example, saying that even if you have sufficient funds, you will not participate in the auction. Can you please talk about it in detail, what is the value of antique relics you understand specifically?

Answer: Why did I say this at that time? It does n’t make much sense to spend so much money on this thing, because it is not entirely Chinese culture, it has a lot of Western culture rubbed into it. The beast head, designed by a foreigner, is a spitting water head embedded in white jade. I think it is better to use this money to rescue Song Yuan ’s famous paintings, old furniture and some ancient Buddha statues, to rescue those more traditional and pure. Chinese native stuff.

Question: While being obsessed with antiques, has it brought joy to the soul, have you ever had any trouble?

A: The trouble is that all of us have engaged in the collection, is always no money, are stretched forever. Sometimes I see a few things that I can't afford, but I don't want to sell the things in my hands to change, so I always worry about money. In fact, you can get two if you sell them. This is a problem. In addition, it is also a problem to keep buying good things that you like. When you find something good comes out and you can buy it, and you are going to buy it, it is the happiest, and you will come to the spirit immediately, beautiful!

Q: Who has helped you in the collection circle? Tell a story and atmosphere in the circle?

A: Liang Guangping, this is the first one. I bought his stuff. Then, Ma Weidu, Zeng Xiaojun, Zhang Jinhua, Liu Chuansheng, and Huang Xuanlong from Taiwan, these are the ones who have a great influence on me. They are all old experts. With the big collector, Zhang Jinhua is also an expert in restoring old classical furniture . When it comes to experts and collectors, it's two different things. Experts sell things, have good eyesight and high taste, and find things for different customers. Collectors just accept, or sell, but in exchange for another thing.

When I have time, I often get together with them, discuss the experience together, and exchange information. For example, Zeng Xiaojun's collection taste is very high, which has a great influence on my collection, especially many collection concepts have changed and improved. When you come to Zeng Xiaojun ’s house, you can see the wonderful Huanghuali furniture and study that he has collected over the past 20 to 30 years. I think Zeng Xiaojun can be ranked among the best in the collection of study in mainland Hong Kong and Taiwan. What shows people really shocked me.

Question: Antiques are the essence of human culture precipitation, often awe-inspiring awe, but on the other hand, the collection industry is also extremely flashy, how do you view this set of contradictions?

A: This has happened in the past two years, including the calligraphy and painting market and the art furniture market. Some people buy artworks just for investment, and sell them for a few years, which is not wrong, but this kind of investment behavior will indeed affect the price. I think if it is possible in the future, it should still return to normality and return to reason, so that people with real collections have the opportunity to buy things they like.

Q: There are also many people in the entertainment industry who love collections, such as Feng Xiaogang and Wang Zhongjun. Are you still friends in your life? Will you discuss collections together? What is that scene?

A: The things you play are different. Both of them used to paint before, so they both like to collect contemporary oil paintings. The Chinese army earlier, he has collected many famous oil paintings, such as the works of Chen Yifei. My collection is ancient art, two areas. Of course, I have also painted before, and I will appreciate their collections.

Q: You have had a lot of insights into life from the shadows over the years, from obscurity to contemporary red stars. What is your most cherished and best part of your experience?

Answer: I have never thought about this issue. After the "Assembly Number" became famous, it became busy. With more opportunities, more entertainment, and more money, you can buy things you like more easily.

Q: Compared with the collection circle, what kind of characteristic circle is the film and television circle?

Answer: I also do n’t know. Because I don't have much contact with the film and television circle, that is, Feng Dao and these people are relatively fixed. On the contrary, I have more contacts with the collectors circle, including those from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. After filming, I will discuss art with them.

Question: You once said that you dream of opening a private museum. What does it look like? Is it in progress?

A: This is just a frequent flash of thought, mainly inspired by the small private museums in Europe. They collected a lot of things, donated them to the society, and put them in a house for people to visit. I just think too much now, there is no actual behavior, it is very difficult to implement. Moreover, his collection is far from the level of a museum, and it is still a learning and accumulation process. I was also intoxicated with this process.

Q: You once described a longing life state to the outside world: make a pot of tea, make friends with about three or five people, talk about collections, listen to dramas, or find a historical monument to slowly recount. Will this kind of life be practiced in the future?

A: That's how it happens when I'm not filming now. A few people chat together, taste Pu'er, play agarwood, and admire the study of the mountain rocks. This kind of life with some cultural qualities, I am very pursuing and enjoying. Enjoy it. (Internship Editor Litian)
