"Not detected" does not mean that the formaldehyde content is zero
At present, the mainstream production technology of the plate industry worldwide uses a large amount of formaldehyde-containing binders, so it is reasonable to be questioned once the concept of "formaldehyde-free" is thrown out. Under the current technical conditions, can composite floors be completely aldehyde-free?
Wang Yong, general manager of Beijing Dehejia Wood Industry Co., Ltd. pointed out that formaldehyde-free flooring is the direction of everyone's efforts. However, under current conditions, the technical indicators of density and water absorption expansion rate of composite flooring require formaldehyde to maintain balance. Floor products using aldehyde-free adhesives cost more at first, and their selling price also imposes huge pressure on consumers. Secondly, after leaving formaldehyde, the comprehensive performance of the floor is difficult to stabilize, and may not meet the national standards for wood-based panels.
Many industry insiders pointed out that formaldehyde is an excellent material to increase the viscosity and adhesion of glue, and the "undetected" formaldehyde of composite flooring is not equivalent to zero formaldehyde content. Another floor manufacturer and distributor said that even if zero formaldehyde is really achieved, it does not mean that other harmful substances are eliminated, such as benzene and VOCs contained in the surface coating of the floor are also the culprits of indoor pollution.
In this regard, Fang Chongrong, deputy secretary general of the China Forest Products Industry Association Floor Professional Committee, pointed out that, theoretically, pure solid wood flooring does not contain formaldehyde, and if composite flooring uses aldehyde-free glue, it can be as aldehyde-free as natural solid wood flooring. However, the actual test found that natural wood may also contain trace aldehydes less than 0.1 mg per liter. In addition, the existing conditions cannot detect the formaldehyde content, only that its content is extremely low and not non-existent.
Can be purchased to meet E1 standard
From the analysis of experts, it can be seen that the formaldehyde content of the floor is hardly zero, but can only be approached to zero indefinitely. In this case, in the face of formaldehyde that cannot be rid of, what kind of flooring products can consumers choose with confidence?
Any consumer who has experience in purchasing flooring knows that after introducing various excellent properties of the product, the salesperson always forgets to add a sentence, "Our products have reached the XX standard, and the formaldehyde content is less than XX mg per liter." Specifically, some businesses moved out of the national E1 standard, some claimed to meet the stricter E0 standard than E1, some proposed the American Carb certification, and some introduced the Japanese F four-star standard. Fang Chongrong said that the E0 level (formaldehyde emission ≤0.5mg / L) that merchants often say is only the industry standard for solid wood composite floor substrates, and the current national standard for composite floor products is GB18580-2001 "Interior Decoration Materials "Formaldehyde emission limit standard in wood-based panels and their products", that is, the formaldehyde emission level is required to reach E1 level, less than or equal to 1.5 milligrams per liter, products that meet this standard can be regarded as harmless to human health. Current mainstream flooring companies in the industry can all reach this level, and consumers can purchase with confidence without having to be too harsh on product standards.
