Shenzhen established the first street anti-terrorist unit in China

On May 14, after two weeks of rigorous and professional training, the anti-terrorism emergency unit of the Qingshuihe Sub-district Office in Shenzhen was officially launched at the training base of the Guangdong Border Defense Corps' mobile detachment. This marks a historic milestone as it is the first permanent anti-terrorism force at the district level in China. The unit was formed in April this year, with 20 members—two of whom are women—all of whom are former military personnel with extensive experience in security and law enforcement. Equipped with advanced riot gear, specialized emergency vehicles, and trained medical responders, the team is well-prepared to handle high-risk scenarios. Their primary responsibilities include maintaining public order, supporting urban management efforts, and responding swiftly to potential terrorist threats. The unit's formation reflects Shenzhen's commitment to enhancing local security and setting a new standard for community-based anti-terrorism initiatives across the country.
