Quanzhou will officially bid farewell to stone mining

Abstract Quanzhou is currently waging a fierce battle against pollution in the stone industry. Last year, Anxi became the first to completely phase out the entire stone industry in the province, and Shishi's stone processing companies have also exited the market. Even Nanan, which is in the process of developing an international stone center, has not been collecting stone materials for several years now. It is reported that by the end of July this year, Jinjiang — known as the "stone giant" — will shut down all building facing stone processing enterprises. This move marks the complete withdrawal of Quanzhou from the historical stage of stone mining and processing. The shift reflects a growing emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development in the region, signaling a major transformation in the local industrial landscape. As traditional industries face stricter regulations, many businesses are adapting or relocating, while new green industries are emerging to drive future growth.
