Railway Monitoring System--Cao Yi Intelligent Technology

Railway monitoring system solution Guangzhou Caoyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. November 2012 I. Overview As a critical part of the national transportation infrastructure, railways play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily life and industrial activities. Due to the vast scale of railway systems, the complexity of on-site conditions, and the dispersed nature of departments, maintaining operational safety has always been a challenge. Implementing a remote monitoring system within the railway network can significantly improve efficiency and reduce manual inspection efforts. The "Jiaante" remote monitoring system utilizes advanced technology to allow operators and management to monitor all key locations and crossings from the dispatch center or local locomotive stations through existing computer networks and office PCs. This system enables real-time surveillance of the surrounding environment along the railway lines, helping to detect potential hazards quickly and ensure safe operations. II. Basic Requirements and Configuration 2.1 Basic Requirements The system uses wireless transmission to send video signals from each monitoring point to a central network. This allows for comprehensive security management across the entire station. The system must be able to monitor and browse images from all points at any time, while also supporting video (and audio) recording, playback, and query functions. It should provide reliable services for relevant departments. 2.2 Equipment Configuration Based on user needs, the system is composed of three main parts: - Monitoring Center Equipment: Includes a monitoring host with control software, a large screen projector (optional), client PCs, and client software. - Sub-control Center Equipment: Consists of client PCs and client software. - Front-end Monitoring Devices: Include a video server (JAT-S), a high-speed dome camera (or PTZ + PTZ decoder + camera), and an outdoor cabinet that houses the video server, PTZ decoder, and power supply. All outdoor equipment must be suitable for harsh environments, including PTZ decoders and pan/tilt units. III. System Structure The system consists of three core components: 1. Front-end monitoring points 2. Monitoring Center 3. Sub-control centers 3.1 Front-end Monitoring Devices The core device is the Hikvision Rackmount Video Server, which connects the camera's video signal directly to the wireless network. Cameras can be selected based on the specific location and function of each monitoring point. Options include standard cameras, PTZ cameras, or high-speed dome color cameras. In this solution, an outdoor integrated dome camera is used for optimal performance. For outdoor installations, a dedicated cabinet houses the video server, PTZ decoder, and power supply, providing 220VAC and RJ45 connections. 3.2 Monitoring Center A server is set up in the monitoring center, running the main control software. It manages all front-end JAT devices and maintains network connectivity. User authorization is managed across the network, allowing all users to access front-end cameras via any LAN-connected computer. They can monitor, query, and playback recorded videos. The main control software automatically configures storage paths, but users can adjust settings using the server’s management tools. The system supports distributed storage, making it scalable for large data volumes. A monitoring workstation can also be added for administrative tasks, such as managing devices and users. It can be connected to a projector for live monitoring or system demonstrations. 3.3 Client Access Users only need to install the Jiaant client software on their computers to access the system. System administrators assign login credentials and permissions, allowing them to function as monitoring workstations. The software supports real-time multi-screen viewing (4/9/12/16 screens) and provides control over PTZ or dome cameras. A separate query and playback tool allows users to search by lens name, date/time, or recording type, and then replay the results. The video signal is transmitted digitally through the video server, creating a fully digital video transmission system. The monitoring center requires just one server (with appropriate hard disk capacity for recording) and may include a monitoring workstation for system management. If needed, a projector can be connected for enhanced visual monitoring.
