The 12th China International Machine Tool Exhibition (CIMES), held in Beijing from June 18 to 22, is widely recognized as the world’s most influential and forward-looking event in the machine tool industry. This year’s exhibition attracted participation from leading companies across the globe, including the United States, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Japan, and South Korea. Over 1,300 well-known enterprises from 30 countries showcased their latest innovations, presenting cutting-edge technologies that reflect the highest standards of industrial development worldwide.
The exhibition took place in a 120,000-square-meter venue at the New China International Exhibition Center, with a theme focused on "Green Intelligent Manufacturing, Digitalization, and Automation." The event featured high-tech zones dedicated to robotics, numerical control systems, and advanced machining solutions, with over 3,200 units of state-of-the-art machine tools on display. Many groundbreaking products made their global debut, offering a glimpse into the future of manufacturing technology.
With an anticipated record-high level of international participation and business transactions, CIMES has become a key platform for global collaboration. Notable participants included Shenyang Machine Tool, Dalian Machine Tool, Qinchuan Machine Tool, East China CNC, Baiying Group, Taichung Seiki, DMG Mori Seiki, GF, Agie Charmilles, EMAG, and Siemens. These industry leaders demonstrated their strong R&D capabilities, reinforcing China’s growing role in the global machine tool sector.
As one of the longest-running exhibitions in the industry, CIMES has evolved significantly over the past two decades. Organized by China National Machine Tool Corporation, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, and Reed Exhibitions, the event aims to promote new product launches, enhance international brand visibility, and expand global cooperation. With a balanced mix of domestic and international exhibitors, the show continues to rise in both scale and international appeal.
Hao Ming, President of China National Machine Tool Corporation, emphasized that the theme of “Green Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital and Automation†aligns with national reform efforts, offering a critical opportunity for the industry to innovate and grow. To further boost engagement, organizers invited major buyers from key sectors such as aerospace, defense, energy, and rail, along with representatives from 12 countries including India, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, the U.S., and Germany.
In addition to the main exhibition, more than 100 events were held throughout the five days, covering forums, design competitions, and buyer meetings. The “China Machine Tool Development High-end Forum†on June 19 brought together top engineers, researchers, and industry leaders, including members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. On June 21, the “CIMES Cup Industrial Machine Tool Design Competition†aimed to inspire young talent and identify promising innovators in the field.
Other highlights included the “China Aviation System Buyers Conference,†“China Weapons Technician Conference,†“International Brand Dealer and Agent Matching Day,†and “Automobile User Procurement Presentation,†all designed to foster collaboration and streamline business opportunities.
A special “Robot Zone†was introduced this year, featuring leading manufacturers like KUKA, Stäubli, ZIMMER, Shenyang Xinsong, and Shanghai Zhongtuo. These companies showcased advanced robotic arms, integrated systems, and automation solutions that can perform tasks beyond human capability. The integration of CNC machines and robots created a dynamic “Dual Machine Dance†under industrial automation, adding a visually striking element to the exhibition.
As China remains the world’s largest consumer and producer of machine tools, the industry still faces challenges such as limited technological advancement and low market share in high-end segments. CIMES aims to address these issues by improving seminar interactivity, enhancing transaction accuracy, and leveraging the platform to drive innovation and growth.
From June 18 to 22, the exhibition offered free entry to pre-registered visitors through its official website and WeChat. Special shuttle services were arranged between Tiantongyuan North Station and the exhibition center, making it convenient for attendees. With over 100,000 expected visitors from around the world, the event is set to achieve a new peak in both attendance and business turnover.
