Scientist turns liquid cement into liquid metal

Scientists have discovered a groundbreaking method that transforms liquid cement into conductive metal, opening up new possibilities in the field of electronics. This innovative process makes cement electrically conductive, paving the way for its use in various consumer electronic devices, including thin-film resistors found in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The research team, consisting of scientists from the United States, Japan, Finland, and Germany, used traditional techniques to convert cement into a metallic form by leveraging a phenomenon known as electron trapping. This method allows the material to exhibit properties similar to metals, making it suitable for advanced technological applications. In their experiment, the researchers first melted chalcedony at an extremely high temperature of 2,000 degrees Celsius. After cooling it down to an amorphous, glass-like state, they employed a unique technique to trap electrons within the structure. These trapped electrons created a conductive pathway, mimicking the behavior of metals. This discovery could lead to more sustainable and cost-effective materials for the electronics industry. The ability to turn a common construction material like cement into a conductive substance offers exciting potential for future innovations.
