Moderator: We understand that the grid connection standards for domestic wind power should be more rigorous, including performance, quality, and grid compatibility. What are your thoughts on this?
Zhang Binquan: I believe this is a positive development. The government’s increased focus on wind power equipment has significantly supported the industry, shifting from a quantitative growth model to one that emphasizes quality. United Power has actively participated in the formulation and revision of several national standards, with some being developed by our own technical team.
We strongly believe that raising technical standards plays a crucial role in the healthy development of the wind power industry. It encourages manufacturers to focus on long-term reliability, ensuring that each product can safely and stably deliver value to the owner over 20 years. Our company has a research and development team of nearly 200 people, and we have also imported advanced engineering software from both domestic and international sources. Currently, United Power has established a complete technical system covering wind resource analysis, new model development and simulation, testing, production, commissioning, and after-sales services. In addition, we maintain nearly 1,000 service teams across the country for maintenance and repair.
When it comes to wind turbines, they often operate in decentralized and remote locations. How to install them effectively and ensure smooth operation is a key challenge. In line with China’s “Strengthening the Information Industry†strategy, United Power has independently developed a data operation platform. This platform connects the operational data of over 5,000 wind turbines to a central data center. Each turbine has its own unique file, and its real-time status is continuously monitored. If any issue arises, our backend experts can guide the nearest field engineer to resolve it quickly. Therefore, in the wind power sector, we are not only involved in design and manufacturing but also in operation and maintenance.
Additionally, there have been stricter requirements regarding grid adaptability. I think this is an important step forward. Currently, we are working closely with grid operators to improve wind power forecasting, helping the grid better anticipate generation patterns and adjust accordingly. In the future, we plan to introduce technologies such as low-voltage ride-through, high-voltage ride-through, and active/reactive power compensation for wind turbines to enhance grid compatibility. This will allow the grid and wind power generation to support each other, addressing the inherent variability of wind energy and improving the overall efficiency of the wind power market.
