In a report from the 2013 Annual Work Conference of China Ordnance Industry Group Corporation, held on January 17, it was revealed that the company has maintained a strong focus on technological innovation, leading to significant achievements. During 2012, the group made substantial progress in the systematization of core capabilities, and numerous military-civilian integration technology projects delivered impressive results.
Zhang Guoqing, the general manager of China Ordnance Industry Group Co., Ltd., highlighted that the Wuhan Heavy Duty Machine Tool Group successfully developed and produced four advanced domestic equipment and new products for ultimate manufacturing. These four machines are national-level projects with extremely high technical complexity, boasting the largest tonnage and volume in the world. Their successful delivery marks China’s leadership in the development of super-heavy-duty machine tools and reflects a major improvement in the production capacity of key equipment in energy and transportation sectors.
Additionally, the North Heavy Industry Group launched the NTE260 electric-wheel mining truck, which features independent intellectual property rights. This breakthrough broke the long-standing foreign monopoly over high-end technology in heavy-duty mining vehicles. The North Night Vision Group also achieved industrialization of high-resolution OLED microdisplays, some of which have reached international leading standards. Meanwhile, Yuxi Group successfully developed 16/20 superhard material synthesis technology, enhancing China's overall technical level in the field of superhard materials and reducing reliance on imported high-end diamond products.
According to Zhang Guoqing, these accomplishments were driven by the group's unique weapons-oriented technological innovation system. The company has established a robust innovation platform, centered around seven national and defense key laboratories, supported by 19 key product research and development centers across its subsidiaries. In addition, the group has focused on cultivating scientific and technological talent, implementing nine distinct talent development systems. The number of experts participating in the "Thousand Talents Program" within the group has reached 31, placing it at the top among central enterprises in this regard.
