Before implementing a PDM system, enterprises must first comprehensively analyze the enterprise's demand for PDM, prepare a detailed enterprise requirements specification, and formulate standards for evaluating suppliers and selecting PDM systems. Focus on product openness and supplier system implementation capabilities, namely technical support, secondary development, consulting and training capabilities, while strengthening training for employees.

2. A PDM implementation

In enterprise PDM applications, process management is the biggest difficulty, and the implementation risk is great. Therefore, we propose to implement product data management, product configuration management, and simplify implementation of process management in enterprise PDM applications.

In our implementation plan, the PDM system should realize the integration of CAD and CAPP systems, centrally manage the CAD, CAPP documents and related product data, and focus on the product structure tree to develop management functions.

According to our implementation plan, the PDM system should implement such a functional framework:

The project leader uses the product configuration function in the PDM system to establish the product structure tree root node, builds the component nodes under the root node according to the design requirements, and distributes the component nodes to the responsible engineers. Product configurations can be created manually or with standard component components. Task assignment and process management are performed visually and flexibly on the structure tree in a node authorization mode.

After the responsible engineer enters the PDM system, the task list is displayed, and the component design can be performed under the corresponding node, the component node is established, and the component node is distributed. Under the component node, component design can be carried out, and the component nodes and component nodes can be established, and the component and part design can be carried out. The CAD software is started by the PDM system, and the generated data files are directly "hanged" on the corresponding nodes of the structure tree, and the upper and lower node data are associated with each other and automatically coordinated.

The process design is carried out at the corresponding node. The CAPP software is activated by the PDM system, and the generated data files are also “hanged” on the corresponding nodes of the structure tree. Through the structure tree, the design drawings such as the CAD generated design drawings and the design BOM can be directly shared.

In the design process, electronic documents such as structure trees, drawings, process files, calculation books, and manuals are all stored in the server and associated with related nodes on the structure tree. The system should have powerful classification query function, provide product structure tree multi-view management, such as design view, process view, standard parts view, borrower view, display by professional group, display by designer, etc., different documents, different states The documents are represented by different icons and different colors. The graphical progress information is displayed by the node, and the early warning information can be prompted. The documents that have passed the approval process are automatically submitted to the warehouse. The modification of the inbound documents has strict process control, provides version management functions, and can save different versions of files. The system should have strict access control to ensure data integrity, consistency and correctness. Those who have permission can view and share design drawings and process files at any time to understand the progress of engineering design and task assignment. After the drawing design is completed, the design BOM module automatically generates the parts list, component list, total list, etc. at the corresponding node. After the process card is finished, the process BOM module automatically generates the material quota, tooling list, various schedules, etc. at the corresponding nodes. . Through the node, you can easily find all the information related to the node. The standard parts library and material supply catalog are pre-established in the system, providing convenient and fast online query and calling functions, and providing borrowing design functions.

After the design and process are completed, a complete structural tree will be created, and all design drawings, process cards, design lists, process lists of a project or product will be stored hierarchically on the tree, and even products such as calculation books and manuals may be included. Technical data, providing a wealth of classified query statistics, which will significantly improve the speed and utilization of technical data, technical information can be easily transferred to the next process. The completed node data is submitted to the archive department for management. The authority belongs to the archive department. The archive department archives and registers the node data to the archive medium (such as CD-ROM). On this basis, the electronic filing of the product technical documents is realized.

The original CAD and CAPP documents use the BOM expansion function to automatically enter the PDM system, and the PDM system generates a product structure tree based on the BOM information.
