Different nutrient elements should be applied together

The principle that balanced fertilization can make crops high quality, high yield, high efficiency and reduce environmental pollution has been accepted by more and more people, but the opposite is rarely known.

Ten years ago, in the high-yield wheat area of Wuqiao, Hebei Province, the leaves of legumes were found to be deficient in iron during the dry season. The new leaves were yellow and white, and the corn was not jointed and looked like bamboo shoots.

This is because excessive phosphorus application results in crops lacking trace elements. It is understood that the region has long-term excessive application of diammonium, basically no organic fertilizer, and the soil available phosphorus level is higher. The lack of elements such as iron and zinc in soil caused by excessive phosphate fertilizer is not obvious at ordinary times, but in drought years, crops sensitive to deficiency are manifested. This indicates that there is a sputum effect between certain nutrient elements, and an excessive application of nutrients leads to the lack of other nutrients.

When I was inspected in Jianli County, Hubei Province a year ago, it was found that many of the local cotton fields had a "loop" in the petiole at the late stage, with less flowering and no peach. After the rain, the plants are prosperous and the symptoms are more obvious.

This is a typical symptom of boron deficiency. It is found that the local government only pays attention to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers. The nitrogen fertilizer is applied 40 kg per mu, while the potassium fertilizer is applied less and the organic fertilizer is less. It has not been applied for farms for four or five years. Organic fertilizer is an important source of boron. Coupled with partial application of nitrogen fertilizer and rain, the symptoms of boron deficiency are naturally more obvious due to the prolonged plant growth. In order to prevent and control boron deficiency, 0.5 to 1 kg of boron can be applied to the base fertilizer, or 0.2% boric acid solution can be sprayed 2 to 3 times during the bud period to full bloom.

There is a farmer who grows sweet peppers, applying 50 kg of diammonium phosphate, 40 kg of potassium fertilizer and a small amount of farmyard manure. After several years of application, the plants are found to be ok, but the results are few. There is also a farmer who grows potatoes. The base fertilizer is 150 kg of 15-15-15 compound fertilizer, and the seedlings are not dead, but the plants are yellow, just like what is lack of nutrition.

These abnormal symptoms are all related to a serious imbalance in nutrient supply. The common feature of their fertilization is insufficient nitrogen fertilizer and excessive phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Excessive phosphorus and potassium will result in a lack of trace elements. Excessive potassium supply can also affect the absorption of magnesium and ammonium by crops, or the lack of elements such as magnesium and nitrogen. In the future, on the basis of increasing the application of decomposed organic fertilizer, the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be reduced to 1/3 to 1/2, and nitrogen fertilizer should be appropriately increased.

In short, between different nutrients, there are both mutual help and phlegm effects. Therefore, organic fertilizers and fertilizers, NPK fertilizers and medium and trace elements should be adapted to local conditions and applied. One of them can not be lacking, nor can it supply too much, otherwise it will have serious consequences. As long as balanced fertilization is achieved, adverse consequences can be prevented. Once it occurs, it should be timely saved by reasonable fertilization, especially spraying foliar fertilizer.
