Smooth Roller Bearing

The smooth operation of a roller bearing is fundamentally similar to that of other types of rolling bearings. However, the working conditions for roller bearings are often more challenging. The ability to perform effectively largely depends on the condition and maintenance of the bearing. Lubrication methods for roller bearings typically include grease lubrication and oil lubrication. Grease provides a sealing effect, simplifies the sealing design, and is easy to apply. Therefore, in most cases where the operating conditions are not extreme, roller bearings are usually lubricated with grease. On the other hand, oil lubrication offers a cooling effect, helps remove dirt and moisture from the bearing. For roller bearings, oil lubrication can be achieved through various methods such as pressure supply, oil injection, oil mist, and oil-gas lubrication. Pressure lubrication is the most commonly used method for roller bearings under normal operating speeds. Oil injection involves delivering lubricating oil through a nozzle mounted on one side of the bearing into its internal components. This method is typically used in high-speed roller bearings, especially when pressure lubrication is insufficient for cooling. Oil mist lubrication involves spraying a dry compressed air stream containing fine oil droplets into the bearing. This method uses less oil, has an excellent cooling effect due to the airflow, and is mainly used for large roller bearings operating at high speeds and requiring high precision. It is also suitable for bearings that are not frequently disassembled. While pressure lubrication and oil injection require additional components like pipes, pumps, reservoirs, and sometimes coolers, making them more costly, they are less commonly used for standard roller bearings.
