Pagemaker for spot color printing

Spot-color platemaking is the production of only one type of color plate at the time of plate making, without the need for multi-color overprinting, the use of spot color inks for printing or printing of special colors by ink transfer. Spot colors are mostly on-site density, and there are fewer meshes.

The Pagemaker software spot color plate focuses on the palette and the submenu “Define Colors” under the “Ingredients” menu. Using the submenu "Set Color" you will see that Pagemaker6.0C divides colors into primary colors and spot colors; likewise, the 5.0CS version has sub-mixes and monochromes, and the 6.5C versions correspond to colors and print colors.

If the print has no more than four colors, the default color in the four basic colors can be used instead of the spot color. Conversely, if there are more than four colors, all the spot density spot colors and halftone dot colors that were pre-made in Photoshop are placed in the Pagemaker file. The spot density spot color is because of the black bitmap mode and can be in Photoshop. Change color.

Method: Select one of the primary colors (red, green, and blue) from the palette. You can also define a primary color in the submenu's "Define Colors" pop-up dialog box to color it. Of course, if the spot color is text or a simple line, color block, etc. that Pagemaker can make, there is no need to go through Photoshop. The mesh spot color produced by Photoshop ensures that the Pagemaker file size and the position of the graphic and text remain the same. By using “rename storage”, the spot color and the four basic colors are divided into two Pagemaker files to avoid misplacing the graphic and text. Film overprinting is not allowed.

The next step is to print in Pagemaker, send the RIP, and output the film. Click on the separations in Pagemaker's print dialog and then process them separately according to the spot color conditions.

1. Printing is not more than four colors. Since each color version is only in yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, after setting all the options in the print dialog box, both primary and spot color printing can be output. Each color separation film.

2, printing with more than four colors

a. The spot color version is a real-time density file created by Photoshop or a graphic produced by Pagemaker. Only original colors can be used for printing. Because the use of spot color printing will only output four basic color versions of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, and cannot output spot colors defined as primary colors; with the primary color version, each color version can output film.

b. The spot color version is a halftone file placed by Photoshop. Because in the Pagemaker can not complete the color replacement, direct output, the spot color will only appear in the four basic color version of yellow, magenta, cyan, black, can not achieve the purpose of spot color plate. It is possible to output the two files that are stored in Pagemaker as yellow, magenta, cyan, and black base color versions and spot color versions.
