PTZ and decoder failure and maintenance

PTZ and decoders are links that are relatively easy to fail in the surveillance system. Here are some examples of troubleshooting methods that we can participate in. We hope that we can play a little inspiring role for the majority of engineering companies. Faults often appear in the following situations:

1. Code turn light does not flash Software settings (lights do not flash, mainly the code converter is not working, first set up from the software to solve this problem)
(1). Decoder settings in the software (decoder protocol, com port, baud rate, parity bit, data bits, stop bits)
(2). Replace a com port (check if the com port is damaged),
(3). Hardware, such as the above settings, still can not be used normally, open the 9-pin to 25-pin converter interface. Check if the wiring is 2-2,3-3,5-7. If it is correct, check if the power supply of the code converter is normal (available with a multimeter for voltage and current testing (9V, 500mA)). No problem can be determined by the code converter. Damaged

2. Unable to Control Decoder There is no relay noise in the decoder.
(1). Check if the decoder is powered.
(2). Check the code converter to pull out the output 485 signal.
(3). Check whether the decoder protocol is set correctly (4). Check whether the baud rate setting is consistent with the decoder (check the address code setting is consistent with the selected camera (detailed address code dialing table, see the decoder manual)
(5). Check whether the decoder and the code converter are wired incorrectly (1-485a, 2-b; some decoders are 1-485b, 2-a)
(6). Check whether the decoder works normally (when the old decoder powers off after a minute, there is a self-test sound; when the software controls the gimbal, there will be a voltage change between the ports of the decoder up, down, auto, etc. and the ptcom port. The situation depends on the decoder 24voV 220v, some of the decoder's these ports will have a switch signal changes), if any, the decoder works normally, otherwise the decoder fails (7). Check whether the fuse of the decoder has been burned out.

3. Unable to control the PTZ (1). Check if the sixth item above is normal (2). Decoder 24v or 220v power supply port output is normal (3). Directly power the up, down, and ptcom lines of the PTZ to check if the PTZ can work normally.
(4). Check whether the power supply interface is connected to the wrong one (5). Check whether the circuit is connected to the wrong (the old decoder is up, down and other lines and ptcom direct power to the cloud platform, each line directly connected to the camera and PTZ lines can be; some decoders for the independent power supply interface.

4. Some functions of PTZ control cannot be used (1). Can't operate on the interface (can't click or click without any response)
a. Check the code turn according to the above steps b. Install the corresponding PTZ control patch c. Notify the supplier (2). Click on the time code to turn on the light or there is a relay inside the decoder, but some functions cannot be controlled a. Check whether the wiring of the function part that cannot be controlled by the prosecutor is correct, whether the head, lens, and other equipment are in good condition, whether the voltage of the decoder function port is on, and whether the output of the switch is normal (3). If the pan/tilt does not work normally during the control, the port will be tested separately (power it directly to the port for control). If it is normal, check if the corresponding port of the decoder is working properly.

5. When you open the software, the video will generate mosaic software problems and consult the supplier.
6. Selection of protective cover and weight of cloud platform
The internal dimensions of the shield should be large enough not only to accommodate the camera and the lens but also to allow for adequate trace space.

When calculating the weight of the PTZ, the following factors need to be considered in addition to the weight of the camera, lens, infrared lamp, and protective cover.
Wind resistance - 1kg
Cable pull -1kg
Snow and ice - 3kg
10% above and below safety margin

7. PTZ usage notes
The automatic retrace function of the PTZ horizontal direction is not designed to operate continuously for 24 hours. Doing so will overdrive the PTZ motor. We do not support the automatic retracement of the pan tilt in the horizontal direction for more than 12 hours in a day. The pan/tilt motor damage caused by the pan/tilt continuous horizontal retracement is not in the scope of the manufacturer's warranty. We recommend using more cameras instead of horizontal auto-return pan-tilt. Because the camera's cost is lower, its flexibility is also enhanced.
PTZs with horizontal and vertical scanning preset function, if they allow the PTZ to rotate back and forth between preset points for a long time, the automatic scanning will also cause damage to the PTZ motor, which is not within the scope of the manufacturer's warranty. .
