The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) has announced a strategic partnership with the Muar Furniture Merchants Association (MFA), Malaysia's leading furniture industry organization. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the furniture sector, as MFA has committed to exclusively participating in MIFF starting from 2013.
Since its establishment in 1995, MIFF, organized by UBM Asia, has grown into the premier furniture trade show in Southeast Asia. With this new alliance, MIFF is set to reach an even larger stage, further solidifying its reputation as a key platform for the global furniture market.
Muar, known as a major hub for furniture manufacturing, is home to over 500 furniture companies. Eight of these firms are listed on the stock exchange, and together they account for 45% of Malaysia’s total furniture exports. The participation of Muar-based manufacturers will enhance MIFF’s status as a leading global solid wood furniture trading event.
MIFF 2013 will take place at the Prince Edward World Trade Centre (PWTC) and the Foreign Trade Promotion Bureau Convention and Exhibition Centre (MECC) from March 5 to 9. The cooperation with MFA will expand the exhibition area by nearly 25%, including the newly created "Mu Pavilion" dedicated to MFA exhibitors. Buyers can expect to meet over 100 exhibitors at MECC next year.
In 2012, MIFF attracted 433 exhibitors and welcomed 20,000 visitors, including 6,605 international buyers from 140 countries. The fair achieved a 7% increase in on-site turnover, reaching a record sales volume of USD 830 million.
UBM Asia, a leading organizer of trade fairs in the region, hosts over 150 exhibitions and is the largest exhibition organizer in China, India, and Malaysia.
