Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. introduced medical-grade multilayer ceramic capacitors for embedded (implantable) medical devices on October 6, 2015. It is envisaged to be equipped with pacemakers, artificial inner ear and insulin pumps. New products are being presented at the 2015 Japan Electronics High Technology Expo (CEATEC JAPAN 2015, October 7-10 at the Makuhari MESSE International Convention and Exhibition Center).
This capacitor is characterized by its small size, high capacity, and high reliability, which helps reduce trauma by reducing the size of implantable medical devices. The new product was developed based on Murata's high-reliability design techniques and quality management experience accumulated in applications requiring high reliability such as onboard vehicles. Can also be customized according to customer requirements.
The "GCH Series", which is suitable for non-life-sustaining circuits (even if a malfunction causes the device to function down or stop, and does not endanger people's lives), has started mass production in April 2015. The "GCR" series for life-sustaining circuits (circuits that will immediately endanger human life in the event of a malfunction) will begin mass production in 2015. The GCR series is a product that has been individually screened for the GCH series. There are five types of external dimensions: 1.0mm x 0.5mm (1005 size), 1.6mm x 0.8mm (1608 size), and 2.0mm x 1.25mm (2012 size) , 3.2mm x 1.6mm (3216 size) and 3.2mm x 2.5mm (3225 size).
