When machining carbon steel and alloy steel, the cutting speed can reach 140m/min, and the tool life can be greatly extended. For example, stainless steel SUS304 is processed with a FTO-GDN drill of φ6 mm, and 6000 holes can be processed under the conditions of v=80 m/min, f=0.18 mm/r, and d=15 mm. The carbon steel S50C is processed with the same size drill. The FTO-GDN drill has a tool life of about 30% higher than that of the standard drill. For high-speed cutting, the tool life will increase by more than 50%.
