Centrifugal pump of various losses

Various losses within the centrifugal pump are: (1) loss of volume loss due to pump leakage is called the volume loss. Pump capacity without loss of volume and the volume loss of the pump power is called the pump volumetric efficiency ηv. (2) Hydraulic loss When the fluid flows through the impeller and pump casing, the change of flow velocity and direction and the existence of reverse pressure gradient cause circulation and vortex, resulting in energy loss, which is called hydraulic loss. Centrifugal pumps at rated flow hydraulic efficiency ηh is generally 0.8 to 0.9. (3) Mechanical loss High-speed rotation of the impeller and liquid friction and bearings, shaft seals and other mechanical friction caused by the loss as mechanical loss. The mechanical efficiency ηM is generally 0.96 to 0.99.
