Foreign research results mainly include: PET substitutes made of bio-based furan molecules, "sugar + carbon dioxide" biodegradable plastics, and new milk protein films.
“The biodegradation industry has developed to the present day. Most of the technical routes have matured in terms of raw materials and end products. Strengthening social advocacy for the proper use of biodegradable materials

Polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS) and its copolyester (PBAT) can be converted to carbon dioxide and water in 180 days under industrial composting conditions, but in soil, seawater and other environments. The degradation rate is relatively slow. Therefore, when using and promoting biodegradable materials, it is necessary to strengthen social propaganda and popularize knowledge about biodegradable materials to avoid a one-sided understanding of “degradability”.
“In addition, according to the composting conditions, the biodegradable material wastes are separately recycled and collectively composted, so as to ensure the bio-degradable materials to achieve the maximum environmental protection effect.” The “Proposal” issued by Hainan Province will improve the domestic garbage recycling.
