The reporter learned from the second session of the seventh session of the China Dyestuff Industry Association held in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province in early March that the total import and export of dyestuffs in China has declined.

Kang Baoxiang, deputy secretary-general of the China Dyestuff Industry Association, introduced at the meeting that in 2011 China's export of dyes and organic pigments both declined. Among them, the export of dyes was 243,000 tons, a decrease of 10.7% over the previous year; exports earned 1.18 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.4% over the previous year. The export of organic pigments was 150,000 tons, a decrease of 2.7% from the previous year; exports earned 1.18 billion US dollars, an increase of 15.8% over the previous year.

Customs statistics show that the total number of dye export countries and regions in China in 2011 was 112, and the export volume of dyestuffs in the top ten countries and regions was 173,000 tons, accounting for 70.8% of the total export volume; foreign exchange earned through exports was 760 million US dollars. Accounted for 64.4% of the total foreign exchange earnings. From the perspective of the distribution of exported countries, as in the previous year, the Asian region is still the main export country and region of dyes in China, and the export of dyes to South Korea has been ranked first in countries for several consecutive years. In 2011, the total number of organic pigment export countries and regions in China totaled 127, an increase of 4 over the previous year. With the rise of the status of the Chinese dye industry in the international dye market, dye imports have continued to decline year by year. In 2011, the import of pigment dyes fell sharply. The import of organic pigments was 19,000 tons, a decrease of 17.3% over the previous year; the import value was 240 million US dollars, an increase of 2.1% over the previous year.
